2 min update- march 23

Hi I'm Andrew Zwarych with a CSM Sports Update...

The Montreal Canadians continue to struggle in the weeks leading up to the playoffs.

Owner George Gillett has seemed to had enough of the up and down Habs and is reportedly looking to sell the historic franchise.

Forbes magazine ranked the Canadian's as the NHL's third most valuable team in October.

The magazine estimated the Habs were worth $334 million.

Gillett purchased the Canadians and Bell centre in 2001 for $181 million.




Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors celebrated CB4's birthday two days early with a big 100-76 over the LA Clippers.

Bosh chipped in with 16 points and 13 boards.

Jose Calderon poured in 15 points and six assists while Shawn Marion had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Zach Randolph had 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Clippers have now lost 10 of their past 12.

Sunday's match-up was the first ever NBA game to be broadcasted in Punjabi.


Edmonton Eskimos running back Jesse Lumsden is making noise in the sport of bobsledding.

After Saturday's win in the four-man bobsleigh event its quite possible that Lumsden will represent Canada at the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver.

The World Cup season starts in November but he won't be able to participate because its during the CFL season.

So his times now are what the coaches will use to determine if he makes the Olympic team or not.


It was Kevin Martin who beat Randy Furby in the Men's final of the Canada Cup of Curling Sunday.

With the win Martin picked up $28, 000 for the win.


Canada's Jennifer Jones won at the world women's curling championship.

Jones broke open a close game with three points in the eighth end to beat Norway's Marianne Rorvik 8-5.


There were only two Canadian teams in action on the ice last night.


The Ottawa Senators leap frogged the Leafs with a 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Alex Auld had a big game, he made 28 saves and picked up the second star.


Nik Backstrom had a 31 save shut-out performance in Minnesota's 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Owen Nolan potted two.

The Oilers announced today that they signed junior standout Jordan Eberle.

Eberle was taken 22nd overall in the 2008 draft.


Canada's own Justin Morneau hit his first two home runs of spring training against Canada's lone team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

Morneau went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI's in Minnesota's 11-6 win.


The Toronto Argonauts re-construction of the franchise continued today, the Argo's completed a deal with the BC Lions.

Toronto picked up Whitby, Ontario native linebacker Jason Pottinger for a fourth round draft pick in the upcoming CFL draft.


Curt Schilling twatted his way to retirement.

Schilling posted that he had decided to retire on his Internet blog this past weekend ending a historic 23 year career.



The Toronto Maple Leafs will be back in action tomorrow night when they host Alex Ovenchkin and the Washington Capitals.
